care and feeding (ii)
so, i started feeding World Destroyer.
as is often the case, you go to feed one cat and suddenly you’re feeding more.

the other day WD was taking a nap by the Shrine To Wanderering Felines1 and i offered a churu in a bowl at a respectful distance: success!
i got a little dedicated dish and some high-protein, high-moisture wet food—yesterday evening i put that out shortly after a WD sighting, but they weren’t nearby. came to clean that up this morning and found it mostly eaten. a cleanup crew of ants, slugs, and pillbugs was finishing what was left.
clean that off, go upstairs, and: oh… someone new?

they’re an older tuxedo cat with flecks of white running through their coat. unfortunately, appears to have some conjunctivitis that’s been untreated for while. i’ll spare you the goopier closeup photo. tricky thing, as i especially don’t want to accidentally bring that back into the house for lupa and ravioli.
nearby, however, is World Destroyer:

i try to see if WD will maybe eat the leftovers from the can, at least, but no dice. no food challenges against Tuxedo Mask.
i head back upstairs with the empty cat dish and Tuxedo Mask starts following me. a good sign, as i’d like to bring him in for some medical care and that will hopefully make the process easier. i’ll maybe reach out to lawyer cat house guy and see if we can’t coordinate some catch-and-neuter/spay operations.
bonus: the cat with round ears who’s always sleeping in a box on lawyer cat house’s porch

a few weeks ago we found a stray cat who passed away in front of our house. i thought it was blot based on the photo and was pretty deeply distraught all day. i got home and decided to inter the body near the spot where blot liked to hang out in our yard, but… then blot stopped by to supervise while i was digging the hole. cats, man.↩
